Chess Club is through The Knight School and meets every Friday. This extracurricular is open to all students grades K-8.

Choir is a co-curricular group open to interested students in grades three through eight who enjoy singing and are interested in learning more about how to do it well. Emphasis is placed on healthy vocal habits, correct breath support, and beautiful tone production. They sing a wide variety of both sacred and secular choral literature and have many opportunities to showcase their talent - school concerts, masses, singing the national anthem during field day, and nursing homes among others. Membership in Choir fosters a sense of pride in teamwork, loyalty, commitment, and self-confidence.

Classroom of Champions is open to any seventh or eighth grader who enjoys trivia and competition! The group meets throughout the school year to prepare for challenges against other schools. They participate in the St. Ignatius Brain Brawl, the St. Edward Classroom of Champions, and the on-line competition, Quiz Bowl. All trivia buffs are welcome!

CAKE is active in our 3rd - 8th grade and continually expanding. Their mission is to help care for those in our community. They complete a service project each month and regularly listen to speakers who support their mission.

The Debate Club at St. Bernadette School provides students with the opportunity to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and persuasive argumentation skills in a fun and engaging environment. Through structured debates, students learn to research topics, construct logical arguments, and present their viewpoints with confidence. The club fosters respectful dialogue, teamwork, and the ability to see multiple perspectives on important issues. Open to students in Grades 5-8, the Debate Club meets Thursday mornings and welcomes both experienced debaters and beginners eager to learn the art of debate!

Eager Engineers is open to K-4 students. It is about about building– with Lego’s, K’nex, Citiblocs, LED Lights, Batteries & more. With these we build excitement, discovery, self-confidence– and learn a few things too! New projects each & every week. Example projects include: A Brush Bug, Citibloc Humans, K’Nex T-Rex & Stealth Plane, a Lego Magnetic Maze & more.

Students in grades K-4 create art by breaking projects down into simple steps. This program promotes individuality, self-accomplishment and fun! We work with over 20 different mediums in a session, including 3-D and clay. Example projects include: Chalk Pastel Aliens, Watercolor Cats by the Pool, Dizzying Op Art, Mitchell’s Ice Cream Sundaes, Oil Pastel Red Pandas & more.

Gardening Club is open to students in grades K-8. Students learn how to grow a garden while working in the St. Bernadette Garden. Some of the food grown in the garden supports the Bulldog Cafe.

Girls on the Run is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. The 10 week program is designed to enhance girls’ social, psychological and physical skills and behaviors to successfully navigate life experiences. Each lesson is led by trained volunteer coaches and covers topics such as healthy eating habits, practicing kindness and gratitude, bullying and gossip and community service. Physical activity is incorporated into each lesson, preparing the girls for a celebratory 5k running event.
At the culmination of the program, each girl is more confident in her ability to set and reach goals, make positive decisions and walk away from bad influences. She is willing to stand up for herself and for others; she is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Beginning in fifth grade, students have the opportunity to become servers at mass.
The entire school celebrates mass every Friday. Each grade rotates the planning of these liturgies, and students have the opportunity to serve as lectors.

Junior high students who have a passion for writing join Mrs. Beirne for creative writing activities throughout the year. Students will also compete in the Northeast Region of Power of the Pen. Power of the Pen instills and inestimable impact on young writers.

St. Bernadette students meet in the library to pray the rosary and make rosaries that fit their ability level. Starting with chaplets and “little crowns” students may advance to different types of full rosaries (ladder rosaries, cord rosaries, etc.). Students keep the rosaries/chaplets for themselves, give them to people they know, and donate many to the St. Bernadette Community.

Beginning every January, students in grades 5-8 travel to Boston Mills for five to six weeks of skiing and lessons
